Terms of Service (Public Beta)
Last updated: 2026-10-01. Kuro is provided free of charge as a public beta. Please read these terms before signing up. How personal data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.
Important notes about the beta
- Data is stored unencrypted. To search your notes and expose them to AI clients, Kuro stores synced content in a form the server can read. End-to-end encryption (E2EE) in Self-hosted LiveSync cannot be used.
- Keep the original data on your own devices. Kuro is a sync target, not a backup service. Keep your local vault so you can recover if server-side data cannot be restored after an incident.
- No warranty. The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of availability, accuracy or continuity. It may change, pause or end without notice.
- Do not sync confidential information. Put notes containing passwords, keys, other people's personal data or anything that must not be stored unencrypted into an excluded folder, or keep them out of sync altogether.
Terms
- Scope and agreement. These terms govern the use of Kuro (the "Service") between the operator and you. By registering an account you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
- The service. The Service provides a sync server compatible with Obsidian's Self-hosted LiveSync plugin and an MCP endpoint through which AI clients can read the synced notes. Some features, such as the memory store, are limited to early-access users.
- Accounts. One account per person. Keep your email login, issued connection credentials and API tokens secure. Accounts may not be lent or transferred.
- Prohibited use. Use that violates the law or public order, attempts to access other people's data, load testing or exploiting vulnerabilities in the Service, automated mass registration, and anything the operator deems inappropriate are prohibited.
- Limits. There are limits on vault size and file count per account, on the number of registered users and on AI feature usage. Limits may change without notice. When a limit is exceeded, sync or AI features may be refused.
- Fees. The Service is free during the beta. If paid plans are introduced later, notice will be given in the Service beforehand.
- Your content. You retain all rights to your synced notes. The operator uses them only as needed to provide the Service (storage, building the search index, sending them to AI models).
- Deletion. You can delete your account and all server-side data from the settings screen at any time. The operator may delete accounts that have been inactive for a long time or that violate these terms.
- Liability. The operator is not liable for damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service, except in cases of intent or gross negligence. No guarantee is made about the accuracy of AI-generated content.
- Changes. These terms may change. Important changes will be announced in the Service. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
- Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
